Overview

This project aims to illuminate the rural areas of Chiplun through the installation of 100 solar street lights & 12 solar pillar lamps addressing the need for sustainable lighting solutions in underserved communities. By harnessing solar energy, this initiative not only provides reliable and eco-friendly lighting but also reduces the dependency on conventional electricity, which is often inconsistent in these remote areas. The selected villages will benefit from improved safety, extended productive hours, and enhanced community activities, as solar street lights offer an energy-efficient solution with minimal maintenance.

In alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), this project contributes to goals like "Affordable and Clean Energy" and "Sustainable Cities and Communities," fostering social and economic development. The initiative stands as a testament to the power of clean energy solutions in transforming rural lives while promoting environmental sustainability.

This effort, facilitated by local partnerships, aims to set a replicable model for solar-based rural development across other regions, strengthening community ties and promoting a brighter, greener future.

Testimonials

  • The solar street lights have made a huge difference in our village, especially for our children. As a sarpanch of village, I’ve noticed that students now have better opportunities to study in the evenings, with proper lighting on the streets leading to our school. It’s safer for the children to walk home after school and attend evening study sessions. This project has not only brightened our streets but also illuminated the path for our youth's future. It’s an initiative that’s truly made a positive, lasting impact. - Mr. Soham Bargode - (Sarpanch of Abitgaon Village)

  • The installation of solar street lights in our village has been a game-changer. Before, our streets were dark and unsafe at night, and it was a challenge for us to move around or conduct any activity after sunset. Thanks to this solar project, we now feel safer and more connected. Not only does it brighten our paths, but it has also brought our community closer, as we now have the confidence to come together and work even after dark. The solar lights have not only improved our quality of life but also aligned with our vision for a more sustainable future. - Local Resident from Dhakmoli Village
