Barsana is a holy town located in Mathura district, UP., about 150kms from Delhi. Unfortunately, today at Barsana & surrounding 120 villages, due to extreme poverty and lack of basic medical facilities, many needy villagers most of whom are over 70 years of age are leading a life of blindness due to cataract. Bhaktivedanta eye hospital, located at Barsana with support from the IIFL Foundation has been providing free eye care services including free cataract surgeries to the needy villagers of Barsana and surrounding 120 villages since 1992. Along with cataract, the villagers suffer from tooth ailment due to tobacco consumption. The medical camp provides them the much-needed medical help both for eyes and tooth, with support from the IIFL Foundation.
